Guinea pig names are a form of endearment you award your pet. Sometimes it’s a challenge. Here’s a list of easy, creative ways to go about it.

Get Inspiration From Your Pet

One common method of naming a new pet is often inspired by your pet. It could be the way they look or maybe their personality that gives you an idea. Do they have a certain behavior that begets a title?  Here’s some examples that could be inspired by your pet. Bright Eyes, Snaggle Tooth, Fuzz Face, Stumpy, Bubbles, Nosy, Whiskers.

Name Your Pet After People

Famous people can be a source for a possible name. Think of historic people, politicians, musicians or actors. Here are some possibilities to give you a start. Lincoln, Einstein, Elvis, Cleopatra, Attila, Fatty Arbuckle, Bogie.

Name Your Pet After A Special Place

Sometimes an appropriate name can come from a place like a city or state. Try something like these suggestions. Utah, Texas, Tennessee, Miami, Boston or LA. If it fits, use it. Using a place for a name begets a style or vogue you think your pet represents.

Name Your Pet After A Fictional Character

Characters fictional or real sometimes work well. It could be inspired by their behavior or a resemblance you think they have. Think of cartoon characters, characters from a novel or a movie character. Here’s some ideas. Dirty Harry, Snoopy, Hercules, Barney Fife, Dora, Bogart, Sylvester, Mr. Tibbs, Felix, 007, Sherlock, Yogi or Boo Boo.

Name Your Pet After a Characteristic They Portray

This is a little twist on using their personality for inspiration. Use a characteristic they have and match it to a known person or place with the same characteristic. Give it a little thought and see what you come up with. Try observing them for awhile once their personality begins to show and go from there. You see them as; tricky so try Houdini, curious try Curious George, strong try Hercules or Samson, investigative try Sherlock, energetic try Speedy Gonzales or Mario Andretti, fortunate try Lucky. Just use your imagination. Lots of good ideas will come to mind.

Do You Have Two Guinea Pigs To Name?

You could have a lot of fun with this one. Try some names of famous partners or names that go together. Try these out, Salt & Pepper, Abbott & Costello, Thunder & Lightening, Adam & Eve, Amos & Andy, Barnum & Baily, Cheech & Chong, Ham & Eggs, Jeklyll & Hyde, Kermit & Miss Piggy, Donny & Marie, Sonny & Cher. There’s a lot more in this category that I’m sure you could come up with if you try.

The name you choose for your pet might be cute or clever. It’s the way we endear them to us. Sometimes it might seem difficult to pick the perfect name for your new guinea pig. Not to worry, it’ll be easier than you think if you try these suggestions.
