any meat
Never give a guinea pig dairy products
Be sure you have a list of the fruits and vegetables they can eat
Purchased food pellets should have at least 20% crude protein and 16% fiber.

Mistake #2 – Cage Too Small Or Improper Cage Set Up

Guinea pigs require more that a few square feet of space in their cage. A single piggy should have at least 7.5 square feet. More is better if you can afford it.

They should also have:

A proper place to hide away and rest.
Sufficient clean bedding
Some toys to keep them active and prevent boredom. Boredom can lead to behavior problems
A means of exercise in their cage or floor time every day

Mistake #3 – Not Scheduling Daily Care At The Same Time Every Day

Guinea pigs are very much creatures of habit. They expect to be on a consistent schedule at the same time each day especially for feeding. They respond very well to consistency. Daily care like cleaning their cage and spending time with them also applies.

Give your furry friend the proper attention and care and they will reward you with a wonderful, healthy, loving pet for many years.
