that is still okay. If it states all sorts of rodents, then don’t buy them. The more specific the food is to the type of animal the better. older than 1 year for it increases the risk of kidney stone formation. Remember that food and water consumption is doubled during pregnancy, so don’t think that you are over feeding your pet.

Vegetables and fruits are very necessary for their diet, just make sure it is fresh. A slice of fruit and half the handful of veggies is enough to provide them the vitamins and minerals for the day. Just make sure you don’t give so much citrus for it can cause mouth sores. In addition, you can add liquid vitamin c which is available in your local pet store to its water supply. Well, if you’re the innovative type, you can squeeze fruit juices and place it in the water bottle.

Water

Clean safe water is the basic necessity for life. You should have adequate water supply at all times, available within your piggies reach. It is not advisable to use a water bowl, for it is often times soiled by feces and urine. Water bottles are now available at your pet stores that are clearly remarkable devices. It is easy to refill and your piggies are always free from getting wet compared to those of messy water bowls. Make sure that upon buying it, it should be leak free and double check if the metal tip is working properly. A malfunctioning water bottle can be messy and on top priority it could kill your cavy from dehydration.

Add-On

Some ferret toys are available so that your cavy can have something to chew on. There lives are practically based on chewing things. So better give them toys that could make them happy, just make sure it is not one of those things that easily break off. Some tiny pieces are a choking hazard so be careful.

Hiding places can be built or bought. As a prey animal, guinea pigs love hiding. Always place a nice hiding spot for them to relieve there anxiety and to have a feeling of security. Also include tunnels in the list. Just like hiding places, cavies like tunneling around. You can buy one or be an earth saver by recycling soda cans. Be sure to replace them regularly when you clean the cage.
